Summary of responsibilities.
The Director, Accounting Operations, at Alaska Air (AAG), determines the long-term strategy and financial performance for accounting operations and is in charge of the accounts payable and fuel accounting departments. This position sets the strategic direction and goals for AAG's payables function and collaborates with peers in finance systems and supply chain to deliver a unified vision for the modernization of the procure-to-pay process. The Director's responsibility as a leader of leaders is to guarantee that the team and procedures can be scaled to support AAG's expansion plans.
Important Tasks.
- oversees the accounts payable department's operations and is in charge of the organization's overall satisfaction with the service that accounts payable provides.
- oversees the fuel accounting department's transaction processing for fuel-related activities, ensuring prompt payment and resolving billing issues.
- To oversee important policies and compliance within this process, leads and collaborates on procure-to-pay automation, digitization, and process transformation. In addition, they draw on their extensive supplier management, accounts payable, and payment processing knowledge.
- measures the function's health using monitoring, analytics, and important metrics.
- acts as a point of contact for escalation for internal (Treasury, Supply Chain, Operations) and external (suppliers) stakeholders to quickly address vendor and payment issues.
- In Accounting Operations, promotes a culture of cooperation, innovation, and constant improvement. Promotes direct, honest, and open communication by example.
- leverages work downward to make the best use of subject-matter experts and to give team members at all levels the chance to grow.
- manages and monitors the timely and accurate completion of month-end tasks for the AP organization, including key reconciliations.
- supports requests from outside auditors as well as other departments within AAG, ensuring that disputes and inquiries are settled as they come up.
Responsibilities for process improvement and transformation.
- in collaboration with other important leaders from across the organization, develops a long-term strategic vision and guides the team that will transform AAG's procure-to-pay procedure. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying and putting into practice business process improvements, recommending and putting into practice pertinent technology improvements, and spearheading significant change management initiatives for impacted stakeholders.
- Establish cross-divisional alignment with the long-term strategic vision in collaboration with colleagues in finance systems and supply chain.
- Assists in creating and sharing ownership of a multi-year technology roadmap for P2P solutions that enables the execution of the long-term strategic vision.
- uses realistic strategies and proactive measures to move both in the short and long term toward the desired state.
- Utilizes tried-and-true project planning techniques to keep track of initiatives, hold people accountable, and foresee obstacles along the P2P transformation journey while openly discussing ideas and raising concerns with working team members and stakeholders.
- holds a significant position on the P2P Steering Committee, actively contributing to give executive leadership updates, metrics, and insights. integrating and influencing P2P best practices and industry best practices, continuously tailoring insights to fit AAG's scale, complexity, and P2P change plan.

Experience, education, and skills relevant to the job.
Required.
- 8 years of related experience, or experience with accounts payable in a challenging business setting.
- five years of direct people leadership experience.
- a bachelor's degree with a concentration in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field; or, in lieu of this degree, two more years of relevant training or experience.
- knowledge of process transformation and system implementation, with proven track record in AP/P2P environments.
- a track record of successfully implementing significant change initiatives and exerting influence across various divisions.
- Experience with change management throughout the project lifecycle, including the capacity to address problems as they arise and integrate fixes into routine processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills go along with a high level of energy and positivity.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- the capacity to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, team environment.
- proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e. g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
- The minimum requirement is a high school diploma.

- knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP platforms.

Salary Levels.
- $151,700-$250,300 / year.
Payment Information.
The anticipated starting pay for this position is indicated above in the pay range and total target compensation package. Your pay will be determined by a number of variables, such as your location, your relevant experience and level, experience level, and skill set, all of which will be balanced against internal equity in relation to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
