With regards to creating, enhancing, and maintaining the data, analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning ecosystem used by a sizable user community (analysts, data scientists, technology partners, business/operations teams, etc. Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products (DPEP) have full control through the Data Products and Platforms division. across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), both inside DPEP and otherwise.
The development and maintenance of data pipelines and products will fall under the purview of the director of technology for data management. In this role, critical thinking and business acumen will be needed to make decisions that support the organization's strategic goals while navigating an environment with little direction and ambiguity. With a range of influence across the portfolio, this position will be accountable for managing a team of managers, architects, engineers, and product managers to advance technical and business strategy in support of our vision for Insights as a Platform.
Responsibilities:
- To enable segment-wide data and insights self-service and agile data management, lead the design, development, and implementation of data and analytics solutions using cloud-native technology in support of the DPEP data strategy and roadmap.
- Manage the day-to-day activities across several data domains while ensuring high performance, scalability, and availability as well as a data-driven strategy for ongoing measurement and optimization.
- Make sure the platform and tools meet the needs of cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
- We should develop significant industry and academic partnerships to continuously improve our data strategy and technical implementations to support the growing business needs.

- Create extensible technical architectures to deliver the most recent solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and other emerging technologies.

- degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field (BS/MS).
- 4 years of relevant experience in data engineering and management.
- a working understanding of advanced Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, Advanced Analytics, and Data Science implementations as well as the most recent studies and market trends.
- an expert in agile delivery methods.
- experience with BigQuery and other Data Warehouse platforms, as well as expert-level working knowledge of the Snowflake Platform.
- knowledge of the architectures, standards, and file types used by Data Lakehouse, including Parquet and Iceberg.
- possessing knowledge of creating large-scale, automated, and highly available ETL/ELT big data pipelines using Kinesis, Kafka, and Google Pub/Sub.
- understanding of data transformation methods using tools, particularly DBT.
- knowledge of orchestration programs like Airflow.
- knowing how to use tools and techniques for data quality, such as SODA, Datadog, and Anomalo.
- familiarity with data security and privacy regulations.
- possessing knowledge of Alation, a tool for enterprise data governance.
- understanding of BI (Business Intelligence) consumption tools like Tableau, Business Objects, SAS, and MicroStrategy.
