As an accounting manager on the Corporate Accounting team, you'll collaborate with teams across Starbucks to support new business initiatives and manage a high-performing team that oversees the accounting for important areas of the organization, such as corporate treasury activities (corporate bank activities, investments, derivatives, debt), compensation and benefits (payroll and benefits, bonuses, stock-based compensation), sustainability initiatives, and business development.
The accounting division will be under your supervision.
- By communicating your vision and strategy to the accounting team, create a positive environment, inspire confidence in leadership and teamwork, and show inspirational leadership to achieve business results.
- Manage accounting processes, supervise complex accounting areas, and provide clients with detailed instructions on how accounting decisions will impact things like compensation accounting and new business ventures. Ensure that financial results are timely and accurately reported by US GAAP and Starbucks' accounting principles.
- Collaborate with others to put ideas and innovations into practice that will improve the systems, internal checks, and work procedures that have an impact on the month-end and quarter-end financial close and reporting.
- Create a high-performing team by coaching and inspiring teammates to meet company objectives, challenge the status quo, and seek out continuous improvement. To maintain and develop high-performing partners, as well as to meet the needs of a growing business, you must be able to: attract, keep, and develop high-performing partners.

- a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
- directing an accounting team for a large, global, publicly traded company.
- creating, interpreting, and putting into use accounting procedures in a setting of rapid growth while maintaining strict internal control.
- US GAAP is used in complex business transactions.
- Just two examples of effective communication in various formats and contexts include writing technical memos and explaining difficult accounting concepts to finance and business leaders.
- A bachelor's degree is required; a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- It is preferred that you have prior experience using business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion and Oracle).
- A plus would be SAP knowledge.
- A plus is having prior experience in public accounting or as a CPA.
