Duties of the position.
- Process new patient registration by entering data into the appropriate system while adhering to the data entry instructions and guidelines provided by Walgreens. handles patient prescription requests in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and enters refill requests for processing. translates medical abbreviations (SIG codes) and investigates issues to locate missing prescription data. Data entry-related errors have all been fixed.
- handle patient correspondence (inbound calls, chats, and emails) and, as required, make outbound calls to prescribers and patients.
- Resolves Third Party Rejects by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing in accordance with particular plan requirements. Calls insurance companies and other parties to request information, get permission for an override, or come up with a different strategy for dealing with Third Party Rejects.
- helps pharmacists, both those employed there and those employed elsewhere. Identifies issues and, as required, brings them to the attention of senior level staff.
- A technician license or certification must be obtained within the first 90 days and kept current.
- Depending on the terms of any bonus plans, if any, an employee in this position can anticipate an hourly rate of $16.50 plus bonuses. - There is a required minimum age of 18.
- possess a Texas address.
- possess a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- either a GED or high school diploma.
- the ability to start and shut down a computer, point and click to run programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, and/or log on to the internet.
- Basic search engine skills include opening a browser, typing URLs where they should go, using search engines, bookmarking websites, using the back, forward, and stop buttons to navigate, and filling out online forms.
- Intermediate level keyboarding skills (touch typing at least 25 WPM, document formatting).
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Preferred specifications.
- a year's worth of pharmacy technician experience is required, ideally in a retail or call center environment.
- a certification or registration from the state's pharmacy board or another nationally renowned body, as well as at least 18 months of pharmacy technician experience.
- experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including upholding service quality standards and gauging client satisfaction.
- Intermediate to advanced keyboarding abilities (at least 35 WPM, touch typing, document formatting).
- Language proficiency in both English and Spanish.
