 In accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, performs data entry and patient registration. You are responsible for handling third-party rejects and many customer inquiries while working directly under supervision. adheres to standard operating procedures while respecting company policies and guidelines when performing duties. responsible for using pharmacy systems to collect data on patients and medications. Duties may vary depending on the designated department.

 Responsibilities at work.

•  Apply the Walgreens prescription data entry procedures and guidelines to the registration of new patients by entering the necessary data into the system. complies with HIPAA regulations when handling patient prescription requests, and enters refill requests for processing. finds missing prescription information and translates medical abbreviations (SIG codes). Every data entry-related exception is fixed.
•  handles patient communication (including emails, chats, and phone calls) and makes outbound calls to prescribers and patients as required.
•  Resolves Third Party Rejects by reviewing, gathering information, making necessary corrections, and resubmitting for processing in line with the requirements of each specific plan. Obtains information, obtains override approval, or otherwise handles third-party rejections by calling insurers and other parties on the phone.
•  aids pharmacists, both those employed there and those working elsewhere. discovers issues and, as required, brings them to the senior staff's attention.
•  A technician license or certification must be acquired within the first 90 days and maintained in good standing.

 Basic prerequisites.

•  The minimum age requirement is 18.
•  must be a resident of Texas.
•  have a valid pharmacy technician license issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
•  A high school diploma or the GED.
•  basic computer skills, such as how to turn on and off a computer, point and click a mouse to open and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, and/or access online information.
•  Basic search engine skills include opening a browser, typing URLs in the correct place, using a search engine, bookmarking a website, using the back, forward, and stop buttons to navigate, and filling out online forms.
•  Typing speed of at least 25 WPM and document formatting indicate intermediate keyboard skills.
•  Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

 Preferable credentials.

•  a minimum of one year's worth of experience working as a pharmacy technician in a retail setting or call center.
•  a certificate or registration from the state's pharmacy board or another organization with at least 18 months of pharmacy technician experience and is nationally recognized.
•  a track record of providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients, including assuring that services are provided in accordance with quality standards and measuring client satisfaction.
•  For intermediate to advanced level keyboarding, a minimum 35 WPM typing speed, touch typing, and document formatting are required.
•  Language proficiency in both English and Spanish.
