PURPOSE OF THE OFFICE

The Home Depot Technology Returnship is a 24-week paid return program for experienced software engineering professionals returning to the workforce. During this program, participants will experience an opportunity for comprehensive growth. As a participant, you will work for 12 weeks under the guidance of more experienced engineers to refresh existing skills and receive training on new and existing technologies used at The Home Depot. For the remaining 12 weeks, you will join a team to observe and support ongoing projects. This is a temporary role with the potential for a permanent position.

MAIN TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• 10% – Planning and analysis: use critical thinking to tackle problems and create solutions. Collaborate with senior leaders on engagements.
• 70% - Delivery and Support: Collaborate and collaborate with other members of the product team (UX, engineering and product management) to build secure, reliable and scalable software solutions. Work under the direction of a senior engineer to develop a comprehensive set of skills. Configure out-of-the-box business solutions to align with evolving business needs. Create automation scripts for infrastructure and test cases. 20% - Learning: Participate in learning activities on the core practices of modern software design and development (community of practice).
• Proactively view articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices used in other technology organizations. Review and analyze code from more experienced engineers to understand best practices and design patterns. Increase your business acumen by learning about other parts of the business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least eighteen years old.
• You must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Physical requirements:

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there are frequent opportunities for movement.
