 Role.

•  Data is ingrained deeply into the product and engineering cultures at Tesla. We depend on data, lots of it, to enhance autopilot, improve hardware designs, proactively identify faults, and optimize load on the electrical grid. We collect data from each of our vehicles, superchargers, and stationary batteries and use it to enhance these features while also ensuring the security of our users.
•  The small but rapidly growing team in charge of building and maintaining the business' big data platform is us. We offer storage, access, and high-volume processing for vast amounts of IoT data. Our stack's core components are open source technologies like Spark, Kafka, and others.
•  We're looking for a talented engineer to become a core member of our team and assist us in delivering new and improved big data infrastructure and services. Your work will have a daily impact on many hundreds of Tesla engineers and will enhance the functionality of our cars, chargers, and batteries around the world.

 What You'll Do.

•  Utilize and improve market-leading, distributed, scalable open-source technologies.
•  Create back-end systems from the ground up that are capable of handling one trillion events per day or more.
•  aid in the scaling-up and widespread operation of highly-available distributed systems.
•  Make your well-tested, clean code simpler for others to use, maintain, and extend.
•  help define a multi-tenant, self-serviceable, and highly leveraged platform.
•  To drive effective solutions from the platform, collaborate with data scientists and engineers.
•  In both a technical and cultural sense, assist Tesla in defining the data story and enabling data-driven solutions.

 What You Will Bring.

•  5+ years' experience in software development.
•  proficiency in either Rust, C++, or Java.
•  strong programming fundamentals, especially in Java, concurrency, and data structures.
•  understanding in depth of a complex distributed system, such as Kafka, Spark, HBase, or ElasticSearch.
•  have created and improved distributed, scalable, highly available back-end services.
•  the capacity to efficiently communicate complex issues and to break down and understand deeply complex problems.
•  Strong problem-solving abilities that prioritize the most straightforward, reliable, and useful solutions.
•  a contributing team member who is trustworthy, dependable, and reliable.
•  With a bias for action, smart but humble.

 Compensation to be Expected.

•  Salary ranges from $104,000 to $348,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards and benefits.
•  The pay offered may change based on a variety of unique factors, including the market area, the applicant's background, education, and experience. Depending on the position offered, other components may also be included in the overall compensation for this position.
