Responsibilities.
- a group of four to six full-time workers under managerial and administrative control.
- Creates and implements policies and procedures that enable the effective and efficient management, administration, and oversight of a portfolio of software licenses, subscriptions, and maintenance/support across the entire enterprise based on internal and external best practices.
- Work with a cross-functional team of key stakeholders and subject matter experts to negotiate software license, subscription, and maintenance/support agreements in line with business requirements, industry standards, and internal best practices.
- To continue meeting business needs, maintain compliance with license/contract terms, and maximize value while minimizing risk, it is crucial to make sure that software license entitlements, subscriptions, and deployments—as well as the maintenance and support agreements that go along with them—are properly managed and administered.
- Bring licensing policies and practices from software providers and publishers into line with operational requirements, streamline procedures, and reduce risk.
Minimum standards.
- leadership experience and a strong management background.
- Software asset management knowledge of three to four years.
- prior management experience overseeing the development and implementation of software asset management policies and standards within a sizable and diverse organization.
- strong familiarity with license use rights, as well as with support and license agreements for software.
- practical experience managing and negotiating license and support agreements for major software publishers (e.g. Microsoft, HP, IBM, Oracle, and Symantec. ).
- a track record of successfully allocating resources and managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities using the appropriate planning, communication, and management tools.
- the ability to innovate and introduce new ideas and techniques to increase efficiency.
