What to expect.

Tesla's Supercomputing team has direct access to the infrastructure for high-performance computing and machine learning, including virtual simulations, Autopilot hardware, silicon design, and Dojo. Due to the exponentially growing need for more data and optimized compute resources, cluster builds are becoming bigger and more complex. The success of our engineering teams depends on the continuous improvement and automation of our deployment, monitoring, self-healing, and alerting processes. As our Autopilot/AI and RandD organizations grow in size and scope, so does the significance of this team and its work.

As a Site Reliability Engineer on our Supercomputing team, you will be in charge of preserving and improving our infrastructure to guarantee that our engineering teams have the tools and resources they require to be productive. Managing our HPC clusters, monitoring compute, GPU, and network metrics, writing configuration management scripts, collaborating with our Data Center team to ensure the smooth operation of hundreds of servers, and expanding the capacity of our GPU clusters are all part of this.

 Exactly what you'll do.

  •  strong familiarity with the Ubuntu/RHEL operating systems' fundamentals and performance enhancements.
  •  superior proficiency with configuration management tools like Ansible.
  •  Proven proficiency in filesystems, disk/storage technologies, storage protocols, IPoIB, TCP/IP, and Linux operating system internals.
  •  understanding of scripting, as well as high-level programming languages like Python, Golang, and Bash.
  •  experience building large clusters while collaborating with network and data center teams.
  •  five or more years' experience working with configuration management tools (such as Ansible, etc. ) monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, Splunk, etc. ) or supervising workload managers for HPC systems (SLURM, LSF, etc. ).
  •  working for at least three years with high-throughput, low-latency networks, GPU-based computing systems, and/or high-performance storage systems.
  •  Knowledge of distributed parallel file systems and Slurm are advantages.
