American Express is a Global company with a strong presence and growing card customer base. The Merchant team Austria based in Vienna is responsible for maintaining and growing the merchant base to support those customers. The role of Legal Entity Coordinator is a critical role for the business reporting directly into the General Manager. The role is responsible for providing regulatory and operational support to the General Manager, Austria team and wider Merchant business including branch governance Coordinator for the Austrian market. Partnering with central and local business, compliance, and operational teams to ensure we are compliant across our business.

Principle Responsibility:

  • Branch Governance Coordinator
  • Branch Governance Committee for Austria consists of key stakeholders from across the business including Controllership, Legal Counsel and Compliance who meet to review the business and assess risk on a quarterly basis
  • The Branch Governance Coordinator works across multiple stakeholders to deliver the quarterly Branch Governance deck, hosting the meeting, collating minutes, and maintaining the action log
  • On-going work with the Operational Excellence team to ensure our risk & issues register is maintained and follow up on outstanding actions
  • Central point of contact for local teams to report potential issues occurring within the Branch 

Regulatory:

  • Management of local implementation of new regulatory requirements across markets and channels

  • First point of contact and ownership for internal audits and support to the General Manager for any external audits

  • Point of liaison between the market and central operational teams to drive central initiatives locally

  • Ownership of ad-hoc compliance and regulatory projects

  • Support follow up on execution of any recommendations

  • Project management

  • Support new and existing merchant payment initiatives to ensure they are compliant
  • Ad-hoc project management supporting the General Manager as required

Skills and Experience:

  • Min. 5 years relevant work experience

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) both in English and German

  • Project management experience, ability to manage complex projects across multiple stakeholders both internal and external

  • Attention to detail and rigour given the complexities involved in the content

  • Ability to build and leverage relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to take decisions independently when required

  • Good Excel skills and experience and the ability to manage and manipulate data from multiple sources

  • Positive attitude and able to work under pressure

  • Proactive problem solver with a self-starting attitude

  • Ability to run multiple initiatives in parallel with a strong sense of planning

  • Knowledge of and experience working with KYC / AML would be an advantage

  • Annual minimum salary of EUR 43,324.54 gross (38.5 hours per week) plus Annual Incentive Award and benefits. An overpayment after taking into account your previous service periods is possible.
