The Amazon Security Special Programs Evaluations Assessments and Response (SPEAR) team is looking for an independent, exceptionally talented, quick-witted, and motivated Physical Security Build Standards Manager to join the Special Programs and Projects Team (SP2). No specific geographic requirements apply to this remote position. The SPEAR Governance team keeps an eye on the development, viability, and effectiveness of the AWS Physical Security Design Standards. The objective of this team is to improve current practices in AWS data center construction. In order to accomplish this, the team identifies defects, ascertains the underlying causes, and develops Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA).
For both new and existing AWS environments, you will collaborate closely with other AWS Physical Security Teams, AWS Management, and internal clients in this role to help mitigate physical security risks. This can be accomplished by creating fresh physical security design guidelines and routinely evaluating the ones that already exist. New and updated build standards will be written and published. New market developments will help to strengthen the physical security foundation of AWS environments, and you'll stay informed about them to look for opportunities to raise the bar on security while lowering costs. The compliance/evaluation teams, business partners, legal, and technology teams will work closely with the chosen candidate as they identify new risks, vulnerabilities, and improvements to existing security controls. To ensure that physical security standards are easily understood by all design disciplines and that design standards are followed at all design milestones, you will also work closely with design engineers.
The ideal candidate will have expertise working in a range of fields and at all levels, including physical security system engineers, construction and implementation teams, and global security risk managers. You will be extremely well-organized, creative, and knowledgeable about the best practices for physical security. Additionally, you'll be able to deliver outcomes on schedule and on a budget. Due to the possibility of travel, you must be able to work independently.
Essential job duties.
• To develop, maintain, and interpret security design standards, work closely with teams from Design Engineering, Evaluation, Global Security Specialists, Physical Security Architects, and Data Center Security.
• Take the lead in the policy review process by ensuring that governance documents are regularly reviewed and updated.
• Look over the ambiguously worded policy requirements.
• As the initial point of contact for general policy questions, assist internal clients.
