- Wayfair is seeking a qualified executive to lead our department for store development and oversee the expansion of our physical retail portfolio. Four of its stores are already open, and Wayfair is developing a physical retail platform for Specialty Retail Brands and Wayfair that will act as the offline hub for the home. We believe there is room for development in the brick-and-mortar sector and an opportunity to create a distinctive shopping experience that emphasizes the breadth and depth of our product offering. In preparation for the next phase of our physical retail expansion, Wayfair is looking for a Head of Store Development to support the initiative's ongoing growth.
- Depending on their level of experience, the chosen candidate will be required to manage some or all of the key work streams for store development (Real Estate, Construction, and Design), and they will also be expected to:.
Real Estate:.
- Manage a team that is in charge of organizing the physical retail expansion for a number of brands, including: the timing and location of store expansion, landlord/developer relationships, leasing arrangements, data-driven customer and market analytics, etc.
- Develop market and site selection strategies, choose potential locations, investigate them thoroughly, and use data-driven processes to evaluate and contrast retail locations. Encourage innovation in the tools and processes used for site selection.
- Establish and maintain a pipeline of properties that will present you with ongoing opportunities to increase your store portfolio now and in the future.
- Manage all negotiations and transactions involving retail real estate, including subleasing, lease extensions, renewals, and development agreements.
- Work together as needed with brokers, landlords, and developers to implement Wayfair's retail strategy.
Construction:.
- oversee all construction and renovation initiatives for stores.
- act as the main point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders, including Wayfair leadership, the physical retail teams, architects, contractors, specialty vendors, and third-party project managers.
- Uphold adherence to the project's budget and schedule.
- Enhance the procedures involved in construction to cut costs and hasten the opening of new stores.
Design:.
Refine the store concepts in close cooperation with cross-functional and outside partners to enhance the customer experience, store performance, and financial results across multiple brands.

This position reports to the Head of Real Estate and carries a significant amount of cross-functional responsibility. In the beginning, the Head of Store Development should anticipate managing a small staff that will grow as volume and strategy dictate. Wayfair is accepting remote applications for this position.
Requirements:.
- Art Bachelor's degree.
