Wayfair is looking for an accomplished leader to direct our store development function and manage the growth of our physical retail portfolio. With four stores already open, Wayfair is building a physical retail platform that will serve as the offline destination for homes for both Wayfair and Specialty Retail Brands. In our view, the brick and mortar sector offers room for development and a chance to create a distinctive shopping environment that emphasizes the breadth and depth of our product offering. As we move into the next stage of our physical retail expansion, Wayfair is looking for a Head of Store Development to support the ongoing growth of our physical retail initiative.
Depending on their level of experience, the selected candidate will be required to supervise some or all of the key work streams for store development (Real Estate, Construction, and Design).
Real Estate:.
- Manage a team that monitors the implementation of physical retail for various brands, making decisions about things like the location and timing of store expansion, landlord/developer relationships, leasing agreements, data-driven customer and market analytics, etc.
- Create market and site selection strategies, identify potential sites, conduct due diligence on them, and use data-driven processes to evaluate and compare retail sites. Encourage new techniques and tools for site selection.
- Create and maintain a pipeline of properties that will provide you with ongoing opportunities to increase the number of stores in your portfolio both now and in the future.
- Manage all retail real estate transactions, including development agreements, leases, renewals, expansions, subleasing, and other transaction types.
- To implement Wayfair's retail strategy, work with brokers, landlords, and developers as needed.
Construction:.
- supervising all construction and renovation projects for stores.
- serve as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders, including physical retail teams, Wayfair leadership, architects, contractors, specialty vendors, and outside project managers.
- Maintain strict adherence to the project's budget and schedule.
- Apply process improvements to the construction industry to lower costs and hasten the opening of new stores.
Design:.
- As you develop your store concepts, work closely with cross-functional and outside partners to improve the customer experience, store performance, and financial results across multiple brands.

Requirements:.
- a undergraduate degree.
- Significant experience in the design, site selection, and construction management of retail stores in any/all of the focus areas listed above.
- Excellent business management skills; history of creating and leading significant strategic initiatives.
