Wayfair is looking for an accomplished leader to manage our store development function and oversee the expansion of our physical retail portfolio. With four stores already operational, Wayfair is building a physical retail platform for both Wayfair and Specialty Retail Brands that will act as the offline destination for homes. In our opinion, the brick-and-mortar industry has room to expand and presents an opportunity to create a unique retail setting that highlights the breadth and depth of our catalog. To support the expansion of our physical retail initiative as we move into the next phase of our physical retail expansion, Wayfair is looking for a Head of Store Development.
Depending on experience, the selected candidate will be required to: supervise some or all of the key work streams for store development (Real Estate, Construction, and Design).
Real Estate:.
- Manage a team that is in charge of a number of brands' physical retail rollout, making decisions about things like where to put new stores and when to do so, leasing agreements, landlord/developer relationships, data-driven customer and market analytics, etc.
- Develop market and site selection strategies, site identification and due diligence, including data-driven processes to evaluate and compare retail sites; encourage innovation in site selection processes and tools.
- Establish and maintain a pipeline of potential properties that will present ongoing chances to increase the store portfolio over the short and long terms.
- Manage the negotiation and completion of all retail real estate transactions, including development agreements, leases, renewals, expansions, subleasing, and other transaction types.
- Work with brokers, landlords, and developers as necessary to implement Wayfair's retail strategy.
Construction:.
- oversee all construction and renovation projects involving stores.
- serve as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders, including physical retail teams, Wayfair leadership, architects, contractors, specialty vendors, and outside project managers.
- Keep the project's budget and schedule in strict compliance.
- Apply process improvements to the construction industry to lower costs and hasten the opening of new stores.
Design:.
Improve the customer experience, store performance, and financial outcomes for various brands by fine-tuning the store concepts in close cooperation with cross-functional and external partners.

Requirements:.
