Job Details:
Processes new patient registration by entering data into the appropriate system, following Walgreens prescription data entry procedures and guidelines. complies with HIPAA regulations when handling prescription requests from patients and enters refill orders for processing. interprets medical abbreviations (SIG codes) and troubleshoots missing prescription information. resolves all errors related to data entry.
- handles patient correspondence (inbound calls, chats, and emails) and occasionally makes outbound calls to prescribers and patients.
Resolves Third-Party Rejections by resubmitting for processing in accordance with the requirements of the individual plan, making corrections, and gathering information. calls insurers and other parties to obtain information, override approval, or resolve Third Party Rejects in some other way.
- assists pharmacists, both within the facility and outside of it, in their work. identifies issues and, if necessary, communicates them to staff at a higher level.
- Within the first 90 days, you must get an active technician license or certification, and you must keep an active technician license or certification.
- Basic Requirements: High School Diploma or GED for those over 18 years old.
PC fundamentals (for instance:
- use the mouse to point and click, start and shut down the computer, switch between programs, save files, print documents, and/or access online information)
- Opening a browser, entering URLs correctly, using a search engine, bookmarking a website, navigating using the back, forward, and stop buttons, and filling out online forms are all basic search engine skills.
- Keyboard proficiency of an intermediate level (at least 25 WPM, touch typing, document formatting).
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Qualifications that are preferred include at least one year of experience working as a pharmacy technician in a retail or call center setting.
- at least 18 months working as a pharmacy technician with a state-issued certificate or registration from the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification agency.
- Experience providing internal and external customers with customer service, including meeting service quality standards and assessing customer satisfaction.
- Keyboard proficiency ranging from intermediate to advanced (at least 35 WPM, touch typing, document formatting).
- English and Spanish proficiency
